Business Analysis & Requirements Management

I serve as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams. From initial elicitation through validated requirements, I ensure that what gets built is what the business actually needs — documented to governance standards and protected from scope erosion.

Methodology

Every requirements engagement begins with stakeholder mapping and elicitation planning. I identify who holds critical knowledge, whose workflows will be impacted, and where organizational assumptions diverge from operational reality.

From there, I build structured artifacts — Business Requirement Documents, Functional Design Documents, process flow maps, and data dictionaries — that translate business intent into specifications technical teams can implement without ambiguity.

Throughout delivery, I maintain traceability matrices to ensure every requirement is tested, validated, and traceable to its business origin. This is how scope stays protected and implementations stay on target.

Challenge

A USD $400M manufacturer was three months into an ERP replacement with no validated requirements document. Scope disputes between finance and operations were stalling configuration and budget was burning at $180K per week.

Approach

Reset the program on the N1 — Needs layer: stakeholder elicitation across 17 process owners, validated BRDs and FDDs, a data dictionary, and a traceability matrix linking every requirement to a business outcome and a test case. Change requests routed through a governed control board.

Outcome

Configuration restarted with a signed-off scope baseline. Go-live hit the revised date with a 2.8% post-UAT defect rate — versus the industry average of 18–22% — and zero Sev-1 defects in the first 30 days of hypercare.

Frequently asked questions about business analysis

A senior business analyst translates business intent into technical specifications that delivery teams can build without guessing. That means running structured stakeholder elicitation, authoring BRDs and FDDs, modeling processes and data, designing UAT scenarios, and maintaining a traceability matrix so every requirement is linked to an outcome and a test. The role is part interpreter, part architect, part governance layer.
